Tycho Returns For 2016 With Elsewhere Tour

Initially a long-standing solo project of Scott Hansen, Tycho evolved into a three-piece band during the production of 2014’s “Awake”. In keeping with the sonic essence of Tycho, the group has preserved the eclectic experimental qualities that help to define Hansen’s solo work. Tycho’s sound sits firmly in the ambient realm; unless noted otherwise, Tycho shows are a mix of live instrumentation and Hansen’s work on a synthesizer. Intricate melodies meander through nostalgic, dreamlike sequences that provoke both motion and emotion.

Over the years, Tycho’s surreal, psychedelic tunes have filled the airwaves, featured on radio shows, world tours, and on Adult Swim and Toonami. This success lends credence to Tycho’s reputation: this is music you want to hear at 3am after a long night out or during a long road trip by yourself. Tracks range from sinister to ecstatic to meditative; Tycho is both entertaining and introspective, a rare feat for modern musicians.
Now, Tycho is reprising “Awake,” with help from like-minded producers. The Awake Remixes album, set to release January 15, features remixes and reinterpretations from the likes of Baio, RJD2, Nitemoves and Com Truise, among others. As Tycho is touring as a DJ set rather than a live group, audiences can expect to hear these new interpretations on the tour, with special guests in tow: Nitemoves, for example, will be joining most of the tour, and it can only be expected that other producers will be hopping on board as well.
