The legendary Time Warp Festival is coming back to Brooklyn for a second edition this November. The festival, which originated in Mannheim, Germany in 1994, broke U.S. ground for the first time last year with an unbelievable production in Brooklyn and a lineup that would make any devout techno fan salivate. This year’s edition proves to match (if not out-do) last year’s talent. Phase two has officially been released; featuring sets from Tale of Us, Chris Liebing, Len Faki, Sven Väth, a live set from Recondite, a back-to-back set from Jamie Jones and Seth Troxler, and an ultra-rare American performance from Ricardo Villalobos, Time Warp isn’t easing New York into this. The Big Apple is being thrown into the deep end – but the NYC faithful have proven they can swim.

The question last year, however, was whether or not New York City was ready to host Germany’s premier techno festival. After a vacation in the Big Apple a few years ago, Steffan Charles, the founder of Time Warp, had favorable things to say about its underground scene: “What I see going on in New York is people playing regularly, underground artists with a huge following. That’s super-great. Not a lot of other big capitals have developed such a vibrant underground scene over the last two years. I’d talk to promoters who’d say, ‘I play this little warehouse.’ You only hear about EDM, but there’s all these underground spaces that don’t play commercial music at all.”
For the inaugural US event, Time Warp laid it on hard. Legendary artists like Dubfire and Josh Wink performed, Pan-Pot and The Martinez Brothers entered the zone; even one of the hottest acts in modern tech, Dixon, graced the decks. To top that all off, Richie Hawtin and “Papa Sven,” two of the biggest names in the business, closed out the festival. With two rooms, a mixture of local and superstar acts, and the bonkers production value that Time Warp is known for, the cave was everything New York craved.

Year two of Time Warp holds the promise of another incredible night. Pre-sale tickets have already sold out, but regular tickets are now on sale. Techno is back, friends – make sure you don’t miss out on this year’s best party.
