Summer Camp Exceeds Expectations With 2016 Lineup
March 31st, 2016MASS EDMC STAFF
If you never had the opportunity to enjoy attending summer camp, or if you want to relive your glory days, here is your chance. Spend this Memorial Day weekend in May at Summer Camp Music Festival when it returns for the 16th straight year to its home in Chillicothe, IL.
Starting out in 2001, Summer Camp was initially a small two-day gathering with an intimate feel that cultivated an extremely strong community of people who would return year after year. They helped to grow and evolve the festival by continually spreading the love and good vibes all around and it is that community – the people of Summer Camp – that are the foundation of the festival. They are what continue to keep the festival expanding while retaining the intimacy and the wonder of the original.
Today the festival welcomes over 20,000 attendees and over 100 musical acts performing over seven stages, but it also has all of the cheer and enjoyment you would find at any traditional summer camp. It has become an all encompassing occasion having had some of the biggest names from almost every genre headline in previous years plus a plethora of organized competitions, activities and exhibitions to compliment the music and keep you entertained all weekend.
This year’s lineup includes the best of many genres, headlined by several incredible names. Traditionally featuring artists that fall more on the jam spectrum of sounds, this year, Summer Camp has branched out to include a wealth of top-notch electronic artists, most notable of which is Big Grizmatik; the all-star collaboration of Big Gigantic, GRiZ, and Gramatik. In addition, bass acts Excision, Snails, NGHTMRE, and Mija will be playing; house artists Anna Lunoe, Sam Feldt and Shiba San; as well as crowd favorites Emancipator. With this year’s lineup, Summer Camp has re-established itself as a premiere music festival in the mid-west.
Tickets for all three days start at $299 including camping and with the option to arrive early and attend the Thursday pre-party. There are also a wide variety of camping upgrades and VIP passes still available. Out of the many events spread across the country for Memorial Day, Summer Camp has emerged as one of biggest and the best and it is arguably the top contender. With that being said, be wary of holding out till the last minute, the holiday weekend is right around the corner and tickets are going fast.
