Spring Awakening, Chicago’s largest electronic music festival, returns once again to the historic Soldier Field on the city’s east side to celebrate its sixth summer anniversary. As a growing number of cities compete to have their names become synonymous with the massive electronic festivals that dominate their summer scenes, Spring Awakening continues to draw some of the biggest talents from all over the world bridging Chicago’s historic roots in the foundation of house music to the future of electronic music.
The three-day festival kicks off Friday June 13th and runs to June 15th. What started as a small summer showcase of electronic music at downtown Chicago’s Congress Theater back in 2008 has accelerated with each year; by year three and four, the festival sold out and festival attendees maxed out the theater’s 3500 person capacity. By 2012, festival organizers React Presents (the same madmen behind North Coast and Summer Set music festivals) had no choice but to move the festival to Soldier Field in order to meet the ever-increasing demand for tickets. Last year’s Spring Awakening hosted over 75,000 music lovers, making it impossible to deny the midwest at a catalyst of the growing popularity of electronic music.

Dubstep artists include Kill the Noise, Alvin Risk, and Borgore, as well as UK bassheads Flux Pavilion and Feed Me.
