Moonrise Festival 2015: Lineup & MASS EDMC Buses
June 1st, 2015Seth Hiravy
While other festivals try to attract newcomers with escalating gimmicks or “transformed” experiences, Moonrise Festival, organized by Steez Promo, has announced one of the most solid lineups for the summer 2015 season. Formerly known Starscape Music Festival, Moonrise will be returning to Pimlico Race Track in Baltimore, MD ready to rock the East Coast for two days starting August 8th and 9th.
With another phase of artists to be announced in June, this year’s phase 1 lineup is a well-rounded demonstration of the current trends in electronic music. Bassnectar is set to close the main stage Day one and is supported by a number of bass heavy performers including Zeds Dead, Dirtyphonics, Functase b2b Cookie Monsta, Doctor P, and Zomboy. Trap fans won’t know which way to turn with Brillz, Snails, What So Not, and Yellow Claw added to this year’s marquee. Moombahton fans will get their fix from Dillon Francis and Nadastrom, and there are a number of live performance artists including Die Antwoord, Porter Robinson, Big Gigantic, and The Floozies. Above & Beyond closes out the final day of the festivities, and while daily lineups have yet to be announced, this one is going to be an all around win Datsik, Thomas Jack, The Glitch Mob, and Borgeous also joining the ranks.
Set to be hosted at the Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore, Moonrise is an all ages festival. Right now, GA tickets can be purchased for $149; VIP tickets can be purchased for $225 and include a t-shirt and poster, express entry, and access to air conditioned bathroom, exclusive viewing areas, and special bar areas. Moonrise is also a non-camping festival, so make sure to make accommodations in advance and be wary of the speed cameras on highways that encompass the area. There are a number of notable regulations (like no totems or tailgating) – a complete list of rules can be found here.
After a couple unfortunate cancellations, Moonrise has steadily been climbing its way up the ranks as a can’t-miss festival. Given the varied lineup, this year is shaping up to be a great option for someone looking to travel for a festival, but without the price tag of Las Vegas, LA, or Chicago.
