Local Newcomer DJ Silly Syl Kicks off Pride Celebration

June 12th, 2015

When Pride hits Boston, the city comes alive. With an endless roster of parties, parades, seminars, and more, there seems to be a little bit of Pride in every corner. And dance music is a huge part of that, especially with its history in representing marginalized groups and keeping Pride afloat year-round. In the midst of all the events and all of the talent representing Pride, one newcomer stands out. DJ Silly Syl, a Boston local, is infusing Pride in her regular weekly rundown.
Kicking off the Pride celebration last week as part of her weekly Ladies Night, DJ Silly Syl is continuing the festivities again this week. On June 12, Pride Night starts the second round at Grand Canal in Boston’s North End as the local bar’s resident DJ. As an official Pride Event, the night promises a variety of music, people, and fun alongside the rest of the packed Pride@Night lineup.
Silly Syl is a self-taught DJ, having introduced herself to the craft only a year and a half ago. Partnering with DJs of Boston, she has been making a name for herself in the local scene with guest spots around the city alongside her residency at Grand Canal. With an eclectic musical upbringing, DJ Silly Sil’s sets can range from classic rock to hip hop to house, catering styles to the crowd rather than pinning herself down to one sound — right in the spirit of Pride.

6/12 (Fri): Grand Canal, Boston
