The main attraction for most music festivals is usually the lineup, but there are an increasing number of festivals who feature far more than just musical offerings. Gem and Jam Festival in Tuscon, Arizona in one such festival – the three day event features a lineup of established underground acts alongside a heavy focus on other art forms such as live painting, art galleries, and workshops. Each year the festival runs during the annual Tuscon Gem, Mineral, and Fossil Showcase, adding an extra attraction for gem enthusiasts out there.
Gem and Jam’s lineup features an equal mix of bands and producers in the jam and dance music scenes. Pretty Lights Music will have their own stage featuring sets from Michal Menert and Eliot Lipp. Break Science will be performing alongside Shady Horns, and festival favorite The Polish Ambassador will be there as well. Tycho will be performing a DJ set as will Manic Focus and Minnesota.
Tickets for Gem and Jam begin at $149 for a three day pass. Single day passes start at $50 for Friday, and $60 for Saturday and Sunday. All three nights of Gem and Jam will include bonus late night sets at a nearby venue. You’ll need to buy separate tickets for each night in addition to your standard festival passes. Lineup information for the late night shows should be made available soon. Gem and Jam is not a camping festival, but there are rentable campsites close to the venue. If you’d prefer to stay in a hotel, Gem and Jam is offering deals on event passes and rooms as well.

Steve's obsession with music began when he was 16; he saw his then-favorite band, Metallica, play the TD Garden in Boston. His musical tastes have broadened since then, but he is still chasing that feeling of excitement & unity he felt at his first show. His introduction to the dance music came when friends brought him to a Bassnectar show, and he hasn't looked back since. When Steve heard MASS EDMC were looking for writers, he jumped at the chance to get more involved. Writing for MASS EDMC has given Steve a rare opportunity to combine two of his passions: writing & live music.
