Experience Much More Than Music At Lucidity Festival

2016 marks the fifth year of Lucidity Festival, which runs from April 8th to 10th in in Santa Barbara, CA. Self-described as a transformation art and music festival, Lucidity’s foundation is cemented in Santa Barbara – the festival was created by notable members of the Santa Barbara arts, music, and consciousness community who decided to build a method to deliver transformational experiences to others. In essence, the minds behind Lucidity aim to guide attendees through the process of achieving lucidity, defined as having clearness of thought or being clear of obscurity, in their everyday lives. Their hope is for their attendees to become more open-minded and clear-thinking so that they may lead happier lives and achieve fulfillment.
Much like Burning Man, the organizers’ process of transformation is based on a basic set of core values: participation and immersion, personal health, environmental responsibility and communal reciprocity. These values are present in each of the six experiences the organizers have created; each installment represents a new chapter of the process. Lucidity’s 2016 iteration is considered the fifth chapter titled “Crossroads”.
Lucidity strives to cultivate a true community with full participation where attendees are encouraged to be as silly, wild and free as they want while immersing themselves in all that can happen at the festival. You can join one of the seven – very committed – themed camping villages, bring your own art, lead a workshop, teach a class, perform your own music, and take full advantage of everything that everyone else at the festival has to offer as well.
Organizers continue to provide attendees with what seems to be the perfect selection of artists to accompany their collective transformation. The lineups of Lucidity are not prisoners to genre or trends; organizers are very particular in selecting artists that will provide a proper eclectic and inspirational experience. This year features a wide range of talent, including the distinct electronic fusions of Haywyre, Mark Farina’s patented brand of “mushroom jazz”, and J.Phlip’s take on tech-house. Notable about this year’s lineup is the sheer number of lesser-known acts; it is clear that Lucidity wants you to attend if you are interested in expanding both your mental and musical horizons.
The festival is very family friendly, they encourage families and kids of all ages to join in the movement. Tickets are currently on sale and three day passes starting at $258, with one day and two day passes also available as well as a number of VIP upgrades and various upgraded camping options.
Lucidity Festival was created with both personal and collective transformation in mind. Every aspect of the festival is intended to help open the minds of the attendees in new ways. Lucidity offers something more than just your average music festival – something deeper – and is worth considering as a spring festival option.
