Kaiju- monster or strange beast?…

Having launched themselves with two much-lauded (and sold out) releases on Kryptic Minds’ imprint Osiris Music in 2012, the production and DJ duo of were then crowned Best New Producers in the 2013 Dubstepforum Awards.

Kaiju followed the DSF award with an hour’s set live on the legendary Rinse FM, joining Youngsta and Toast on for a show that broke records, highlighted the quality of the Kaiju sound and cemented their arrival in 140bpm bass music. Two further sell-out releases on Osiris followed, including the Flowdan collaboration Hunter (which was, without a doubt, 2013’s dubstep anthem) and the destructive force of M16, alongside sell-out debuts on Lion Charge and the Osiris-backed RuffCut imprints.

It’s rather rare that you hear unreleased music from the duo; unless they’re the ones playing it. The fact Kaiju keep tunes on lock ensures their DJ appearances are special occasions, with Kaiju-only sets creating a journey on the dancefloor for loving crowds across Europe and the USA. Fortunately, a few of the most respected bass music tastemakers, including the likes of Youngsta, Mala, Joe Nice, VIVEK and J:Kenzo, can been heard supporting dubs from the Kaiju studio – so fans will get the chance to hear these in-demand tunes on a more regular basis.

2014 bodes well for Kaiju with a US Tour planned and a rumoured debut concept album to be confirmed, as well as appearances at the likes of One Love Festival. The dubstep sound, from the outside – and to those not in the know – might be dead or dying, but Kaiju are making made-for-soundsystem music like no one else
