CMJ SHOWCASE: AM ONLY: INPUT
For the past three years, the DJ and producer born Ashley Jones has been making it rain in the disco with innovative remixes and original tracks. Jones is far from a new jack, having racked up over a decade of international club experience and studio chops as part of the legendary drum & bass group, Evol Intent. Yet as Treasure Fingers, he’s found a way to merge his diverse influences and deep history into a signature sound, packed with intricate basslines, chopped-up, gritty synth melodies, and party-ready drum breaks. It’s already captured the ears of everyone from rock groups Snowden and Miike Snow to house legends Romanthony and Roy Davis JR (all of whom personally requested the Treasure Fingers remix treatment). Equally intrigued were A-Trak and Nick Catchdubs, who quickly signed Treasure Fingers to their tastemaking label Fool’s Gold, home to Kid Sister, Duck Sauce and other buzzed-about favorites.
Treasure Fingers “Cross The Dancefloor: “I dj now, and right now this is my favorite song to play. It’s a rare underground song” (Will.I.AM’s Favorite Party Starter Track, People Magazine)
“Cross The Dancefloor” was Treasure Fingers’ debut, an inescapably catchy, vocoder-laced dance gem that two-steps over genre boundaries. The instant classic received support from A- List DJs around the world such as Erick Morillo, Pete Tong, Annie Mac, Sinden and Kissy Sell Out. Treasure Fingers has kept the momentum going with heavy touring and official remixes for numerous artists including Little Boots (I Am Sound), Chromeo (Vice/Atlantic), Estelle (Atlantic), Empire of the Sun (EMI), Kid Sister (Downtown), Kid Cudi (G.O.O.D/Sony), N.A.S.A (Epitaph), and James Curd (Om) (remix went to #1 on the Beatport Club Chart). A constant favorite on Hype Machine, he has also received amazing support from such blogs as Disco Dust, Boom Boom Chik, Indy Shuffle, Big Stereo and Discobelle to name a few. A new batch of equally funky Treasure Fingers originals & a mix CD are on their way along with tours in North America, Europe, UK, Asia, Australia and South America. These coming after successful tours and gigs with artists Roy Davis Jr, Fake Blood, A-Trak, Chromeo, Laidback Luke, Fred Falke, Felix da Housecat & Benny Benassi, to name a few.
What else would you expect from the A-Town original with the Midas touch, who continues to receive accolades and Radio 1 support from heavy hitters Pete Tong, Annie Mac (with a mini mix under his belt), Kissy Sellout, Jaymo & Andy George, all helping Treasure Fingers launch up, up and away into the future with people worldwide shakin’ it cross the dancefloor.
Oliver have found the beating heart inside the dance machine. Whether moving bodies at the world’s biggest electronic festivals, or hand-crafting digital gems in the studio, the producer / DJ duo of U-Tern and Oligee are responsible for some of the funkiest, toughest, and most diverse dance music today.
After spending years writing, producing, DJing and digging for vinyl, U-Tern and Oligee linked up in LA to forge something groundbreaking. They took their shared ’80s baby tastes – relentlessly groovy R&B, boombox worthy hip-hop, soaring electropop hooks – and mashed them together in remixes for everyone from Chromeo and Foster The People to Breakbot and techno godfather Juan Atkins. Original jams like “All Night” and “Dirty Talk” (supported by dance music luminaries like Alan Braxe and Busy P) took Oliver’s back-to-the-future sound even further, while high-powered collaborations with A-Trak (“Disco Nap”) and Destructo (“LA Funky”) brought the duo to the festival circuit, where they kept hands in the air all summer.
With the release of their Fool’s Gold EP Mechanical, Oliver push their hybrid sound to even funkier new horizons. The stadium worthy opener “MYB” perfectly segues into the moody strut of “Night Is On My Mind,” before shifting gears with the hands-in-the-air ecstasy of “Control” and riding off into the sunset on the title track’s cinematic pulse. With non-stop DJ sets on deck (complete with Oligee’s live keyboard riffs) and even more new music, there’s no telling where the beats will take them next. “Oliver is all over the map,” says U-Tern. “But we’re going to have a good time no matter what.”
Get to know NY based Codes’, DJ/Producer, on Slow Roast Records. His ingenious sample manipulation has developed into a non-classifiable style all his own. Laced with big ass kick drums and a tight low end Codes keeps bodies moving in the club. Whether it be the remix he did with A-Trak for disco legend Cerrone’s ”Misunderstanding“ or his own Cristal classic ”Guzzlin’ Champagne“ Codes knows how to keep the funk in dance music.
Captivating audiences across the world with his dancefloor control, Codes has played at massive events like HARD Summer, Valtifest in Amsterdam, and Camp Bisco, as well as legendary venues such as Pacha New York, Avalon Hollywood, Webster Hall, and The Wiltern LA. He has toured Down Under with Slow Roast label bossman, Craze, to give Australia a taste of what’s cooking’ in Codes’ kitchen. From that tour sprung a series of original collaborations between the Slow Roast duo ranging from their filthy instrumental ”Trapped in Sydney“ to some deep liquid house vibes like their latest release together, ”Deeper“.
Following up his first EP on Slow Roast Records entitled ”Codes’ House“, the anticipated “The Get Down” EP will be out this February. Keep an eye out for his new take on a couple choice Disco classics from Salsoul Records slated for a release later this year on Ultra and a slew of originals that will be up on his Soundcloud page free for download.
