Perhaps best known for their stratified, ear-catching rhythms, Chaos In The CBD is the house moniker of New Zealand brothers Ben and Louis Helliker-Hales. Though their music evokes the time-honoured heritage of classic house, their interpretation of jazz brings a unique inventiveness to the genre.

In 2015, the duo released Midnight In Peckham on the South London dance party and record label Rhythm Section. The EPs poetic production and mournful horns (played by Isaac Aesili) seems to thaw the ice and grime of their new adopted home and embodies the borough’s thriving, vibrant music community. Early 2016 saw two releases with revered Japanese label Mule Musiq, further enhancing the pair’s ear for complex drum patterns that create visceral listening experiences.

The brothers’ ceaseless momentum led to the start of their own label In Dust We Trust, a collaboration with childhood friend Jon Sable. The label’s first offering, Accidental Meetings, exemplifies their considered production; energetic progressions that mature as the motifs develop.

With ever-strengthening production credentials, and infectious, joyous rapport while performing, Chaos In The CBD have marked themselves as one of the most eminent underground house artists to emerge out of the South Pacific. The pair split their time between the studio and performing around North America, Europe and the UK, as well as closer to their native home in New Zealand.

Jayda G is a Canadian DJ that moves back and forth from Vancouver to Berlin. As a music producer, she came out with her first release on the Australian label, Butter Sessions, earlier this May. Jayda G has also recently started a new record label project called Freakout Cult. The co-produced label, with Sex Tags Mania co-founder DJ Fett Burger, was inspired by the Freakout Cult club night the two started in Vancouver. The record was released late September of 2015.

John Barera is a producer, musician and DJ who’s life has been driven by music . His musical world is one where house and techno meet soul, psych, dub, and disco to create an upfront and free-spirited sound for the dancefloor. Barera , who started out playing house parties as an art student, recently co-founded the supply records label, and has djed in key cities in europe and north america, sharing bills with many respected artists. Always putting the extra work to push things to the next level, his dj sets have been known to go over very well . Groove Magazine, Resident Advisor, and Little White Earbuds have all spoken well of his work. In his hometown of Boston, Weekly Dig scribe Dave Wedge recently said ‘Boston has certainly carved out its own reputation as a house music hotbed over the past decade..home to aces like Soul Clap, Tanner Ross, Joe Bermudez, & John Barera.’

Through his production work solo, with Soren Jahan as B-Tracks, and in collaboration with other artists, Barera is putting forward new releases for 2012, starting with his ‘Mile End’ 12′ EP on Ortloff records. Barera spends his current days working the business side of independent music distibution, and his nights and weekends in the studio and at gigs, always ready to learn more.
