Bassnectar is the brainchild of Lorin Ashton, and his open-sourced musical project is as diverse as it is imaginary, as raw as it is meticulous, and as fierce as it is stunning. Spanning the spectrum of sonic style, the music draws inspiration from every genre imaginable and supplies a synthesis of intense, wobbling basslines and hypnotic soundscapes for a devout international audience that desires the beautiful and the bestial in the same breath.
In whatever medium Bassnectar works, music is the lure and social impact is the sincere intention. According to Ashton, “We are so blessed, and so deeply fortunate to be alive and awake right now…it’s a basic truth, but it’s very powerful. I think privilege confers responsibility, and Bassnectar is a reflection of that opportunity to give back; the motion of my cells bouncing back at the world.”
ll.Gates is a Toronto-based composer, performer and educator. Over the past 16 years, he has established a global fanbase and a reputation as one of the most dynamic electronic music artists around. He regularly tours across North America, Europe, Australia and Asia. Gates has headlined at such festivals as Burning Man, Shambala, the World Electronic Music Festival and the New Orleans Jazz Festival. His first full-length release, Autopirate (Muti Music, 2008) charted and continues to sell strongly. His upcoming triple album The ill.Methodology and accompanying online course are highly anticipated. Gates was recently selected as one of the Next 100 by URB Magazine.
Many of his contemporaries cite ill.Gates as a key artistic influence and inspiration in their music. While on tour, Gates frequently teaches workshops to grateful and attentive audiences, in which he shares his highly effective approach to producing quality finished music as well as insights into the mentality and strategies necessary to succeed in the music business.
Today, Caspa is synonymous with the underground. If you don’t know Caspa you don’t know Dubstep. With an epic list of tour dates taking him to every corner of the globe he still finds time to host a bi-monthly night at the world famous Fabric. Not content with running 3 labels , producing dancefloor bomb after dancefloor bomb and the acclaimed album ‘Everybody’s Talking, Nobody’s Listening’, his remix skills are in higher demand than ever, remixing for the likes of Deadmau5, Miike Snow, Swedish House Mafia ,Depeche Mode, Kid Sister and Adam F & Horx feat Redman to name just a few.
This is his story so far…
Growing up in West London on a diet of Jungle and Hip Hop, Caspa started DJ’ing and experimenting with beats after a promising Basketball career was cut short by injury.
In 2003, under the pseudonym Quiet Storm, the track ‘Bass Bins’ was picked up by BBC 1xtra’s J Da Flex and things started to snowball. Founding his own label Storming Productions in 2004, Caspa also began a weekly radio show on the iconic Rinse FM. Signing up and working with the likes of Search & Destroy, Dubchild, Toasty Boy, DJ Narrows and Oris Jay the label soon became established as one of the dominating underground labels of the time.
After receiving a demo from Swedish producers L-Wiz, a thoroughly impressed Caspa decided to start a sister label ‘Dub Police’; its aim to focus entirely on exciting new artists and provide a platform to the new and quickly emerging genre Dubstep. With a string of successful releases from artists such as L-Wiz, N-Type, Rusko, The Others and of course his own productions under the Caspa alias, the label began to grow in to one of the trail blazing labels of the emergent genre. Meanwhile Caspa was also having success on other labels with releases like ‘Rubber Chicken’ which was snapped up by Tempa and soon became an underground anthem.
Amidst the ever growing hype, Caspa and fellow label artist Rusko were approached by Fabric to mix the 37th instalment of the legendary FabricLive series. Following on from such legends as John Peel and Fabio & Grooverider, this was the first commercially available dubstep compilation and played a significant part in bringing the genre into the limelight and introducing it to many new listeners worldwide. His anthemic remix of TC’s ‘Where’s My Money’ pushed things even further and his mix on Deadmau5 and Kaskade ‘I Remember’ further still.
2009 saw Caspa take things to the next level with a series of high profile gigs & festival performances from Glastonbury and Global Gathering to sharing the main stage with Lily Allen and The Arctic Monkey’s at Serbia’s Exit Festival. Not content with rounding up the year with an epic US Tour, his huge remix of Hard by Breakage feat Newham Generals became Zane Lowe’s hottest record in the world at Radio One and was almost immediately followed by his mix of Adam F and Horx featuring Redman ‘Shut the Lights Off’ – which on it’s debut play was also crowned with the same honour.
2010 saw Caspa smash up the clubs with his Subscape collab ‘Geordie Racer’ and his remix of Ludacris’ ‘How Low Can You Go’ – the first official dubstep remix of a major US rap-star. Equally his remix of ‘One’ by Swedish House Mafia has made major waves also. In the summer his epic My Style compilation hit the shops, while on the release front, ‘Back for the First Time’ got everyone talking, with support from Zane Lowe, Annie Mac and Mistajam and daytime and afternoon spins and an official playlist on radio 1. This instrumental then got a massive vocal topline from Mr Hudson to become ‘Love Never Dies (Back for the First Time)’
The touring continued with a host of major festival dates in summer 2010 including hitting the main stage at Sonar just before the Chemical Brothers headline set and rocking Bestival, Global Gathering, SW4 and more in the U.K. On top of this, Caspa then played dates at Hardfest and the legendary Lollapalooza in the U.S. and that’s not to mention dates in Ibiza, Germany, Australia/New Zealand and even India!
The first few months of 2011 were on studio lockdown and summer festival bookings included Glastonbury, Global Gathering and Creamfields in the UK, Primavera and Monegros festivals in Spain and B’estfest in Romania. 2011 ended for Caspa with Stereosonic in Australia and a massive US tour.
On top of working on his artist album, 2011 saw Caspa remixing the likes of Katy B’s ‘Easy Please Me’ and Buraka Som Sistema’s ‘Hangover’, tracks which dominated the airwaves and clubs alike. On the release front 2011 brought you ‘Neck Snappah’ , ‘Fulham 2 Waterloo’ and the his ‘Not For The Playlist EP’ (which includes ‘Sir rock Alot’, ‘Champion Skank’, ‘It Is What It Is’ and ‘Hot Shoe Shuffle’). There’s now a free Caspa app available for iPhone too.
2012 Has seen lots more touring with a massive US tour including dates in Miami during Miami Music week and dates with other Dub Police artists. Caspa’s long established residency at Fabric has continued to prove hugely successful and popular throughout this year. The explosive first single ‘War’ featuring Keith Flint from Caspa’s next artist album is set for a July release and he’s also recently shot a video in Atlanta for one of his other tracks from the forthcoming album. This summer will see Caspa hitting the festival circuit Once again including dates at Creamfields, Dour, Parklife Weekender and more to be announced. On top of this Caspa will be performing at various venues all around Europe and following that up with another US tour and Australia dates later in the year.

EPROM is one of the vibrant West-Coast scene’s most colourful characters and an important cog in the international Rwina machine. He’s a consummate post-millennial producer, and his sound varies from toxic hip-hop to searing garage mutations to bizarre concoctions somewhere in between. His beats jiggle and drip and contort wildly, always in some perpetual state of melting, churning, and mutation. He’s had releases on Warp, Surefire, and Bristol-based Bad Acid, but it’s his Rwina releases that have been the most visible and enduring, whether it’s the timestretch torture and fierce melodic geysers of “Humanoid” or deconstructionist mayhem of his “Pipe Dream” EP, where dubstep and grime collide for a staggering beast that shakes off heavy blotches of radioactive fluorescent sludge with every beat that lands. His live sets are something to behold as well, emphasizing the hip-hop roots that lurk underneath his sewer beats, and an hour of EPROM is bound to turn your brain into to the same sort of goo that gums the gears of his distinctive beats.

It’s been three years since the release of Nosaj Thing’s highly acclaimed debut album, Drift, which topped countless Best Of Year Lists, but 2013 will mark a new chapter for the 27-year-old producer, musician and DJ from Los Angeles.
With a new album, label and imprint for Innovative Leisure, Home marks the first time Nosaj has incorporated guest vocalists. Having remixed and worked with the likes of The XX, Flying Lotus, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Beck & Kendrick Lamar, it was time to incorporate a few collaborations of his own with Toro y Moi and Kazu Makino (Blonde Redhead) providing ethereal vocals for two of the tracks on Home. The rest of the album is rounded with Nosaj’s signature cinematic soundscapes that explore the space from where Drift left off.
Born in Tel Aviv and living in Austin, TX, The Widdler has been playing and producing music since he was 10. Supported by artists like Bassnectar, Mary Anne Hobbes, Excision, Bukez Finezt, and 6Blocc, member of US imprints Dank ‘N’ Dirty Dubz, and MalLabel Music, represented by Circle Talent Agency, and most recently signed to Owsla Records, The Widdler is widely recognized as an innovator and originator of dub sound. Constantly practicing, The Widdler incorporates mix sessions into his daily routine, which translates to his flawless performances at shows; headlining with the likes of Doctor P, Reso, Ajappai, and Tipper throughout the world. Currently spending his time between gigs in the studio, The Widdler is working hard to bring the freshest tunes to his fans, with his newest releases to drop in 2013. Taking influence from various genres of music and lifestyle, his tunes comes in all shapes and colors.
