Digitalism’s North American 2014 DJ Tour The Last Before Hiatus
February 20th, 2014Steve Cahill
On January 21st, German electro-house duo Digitalism announced via their Soundcloud page that they were in the midst of a massive creative burst that would send them into something of a hibernation into their studio bunker – yes, you read that right, they record in a converted WWII bunker in Hamburg – for most of 2014. The duo, comprised of Jens “Jence” Moelle and Ismail “Isi” Tufekci, promised a new direction for their sound in the tracks to come, and offered a taste in the form of their latest track, Fahrenheit 32. The track has a heavy techno influence and was met with a warm reception after hitting the airwaves on BBC Radio 1; British producing peer Alex Metric was quick to adopt it into his sets.
Fortunately for fans, the duo has announced a short winter/early spring tour before their recording process is to begin, with three dates coming through the northeast in late February. These will be DJ sets, but don’t let that discourage you from attending. The duo closed out 2011’s MELT! Festival in their native Germany in front of a very satisfied crowd. It’s also important to note that while the duo will not have the live drumming and instrumentation featured in some of their festival performances, Jens Moelle will be tackling mic duties and performing live vocals. Given their impending hiatus, this could be your last chance to catch them live for a while, so don’t miss out!
