Alex Metric and Destructo Team Up For UK2LA Tour

December 23rd, 2013

Alex Metric Destructo UK2LA Tour

Alex Metric and Destructo are diving into the New Year with a sprawling US tour. Aptly titled the UK 2 LA Tour, the two OWSLA Records signees will sweep across the US hitting clubs coast-to-coast, making a small detour to play the long sold-out Holy Ship! early this January. Metric’s pop-oriented electro-house sound will be lead into each night by a darker, more aggressive set by Destructo. It will be interesting to see how the two plan on creating a smooth transition between sets and pleasing fans of each artist despite their differences in sound.
Metric, a London native, released his latest single Safe With You this past July, his first major release since he dropped his Ammunition Part 2 EP last year. The latter work includes collaborations with established trap producer UZ and nu disco producer Aeroplane among others. He made his debut in the scene just five years ago with his Deadly on a Mission EP and has since been on a swift rise to fame. Currently he’s in the midst of a global tour where he’ll be headlining his own dates as well as providing support for Zedd and Otto Knows on a handful of stops before joining Destructo just as the New Year begins.
Destructo (real name Gary Richards) began his career on the business side of the music industry despite always maintaining an interest in producing electronic music. During the 1990s, he first coined the title for the now-famous Electric Daisy Carnival and was selected by legendary producer Rick Rubin to oversee A&R for the electronic side of Def Jam Recordings. At the same time, he began performing under the moniker ‘Destructo’, blending his traditional electronic influences with rock and metal with the objective of producing some of the hardest sounding music possible. He’s the founder of HARD, the company behind a series of festivals that routinely hosts superstar producers such as Deadmau5 and French duo Justice. Most recently he’s released his EP Higher in June, which boasts remixes from Tommy Trash and Brodinski.

1/18 (Sat): Prime, Boston (early show)

Steve's obsession with music began when he was 16; he saw his then-favorite band, Metallica, play the TD Garden in Boston. His musical tastes have broadened since then, but he is still chasing that feeling of excitement & unity he felt at his first show. His introduction to the dance music came when friends brought him to a Bassnectar show, and he hasn't looked back since. When Steve heard MASS EDMC were looking for writers, he jumped at the chance to get more involved. Writing for MASS EDMC has given Steve a rare opportunity to combine two of his passions: writing & live music.
